Having lost a close family member to Alzheimer’s after a decade-long battle with the disease - and experiencing the effect this had on their elderly widower - Frontline Bathrooms’ IT Manager Jason Hoare decided to undertake a fundraising challenge for Age UK that would really get people’s attention.

A year-long effort, which has seen Jason task himself with completing 26 events in 12 months, encompassing marathons, swimathons and triathlons, has taken him from London and Leeds to Barcelona, where he participated in his biggest challenge: the gruelling Ironman. Crossing the finish line in an impressive 15 hours and 4 minutes, the event included a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and 26.2 mile run - adding to the grand total of 1,675 miles which he has covered throughout his incredible journey in 2017.

Given the amount of training required, Jason also decided to give up alcohol for the year and now, having surpassed his target of £2,000 and having just completed his final marathon on Sunday 10th December, January can’t come soon enough for a celebratory pint!

Jason commented: “This has been a tough year, but extremely rewarding. The culmination of all the challenges, combined with the support of work colleagues at Frontline who organised charity days to supplement my efforts, has helped me to achieve my target and improve awareness of such a good cause.”
